Community Resource Centers

Community resource centers (CRCs) are central hub that offers a wide variety of programs and direct support services to improve the overall well-being of local residents. The specific  services may vary, but they generally offer the community the following services:

Basic Needs and Emergency Support:

Community resource centers  help individuals and families meet immediate needs to ensure stability and safety.


Food and Clothing:

  •  Access to emergency food pantries, healthy meal programs, weekend meals,  clothing assistance, diapers, formula and or referrals.


Housing Assistance:

  • Support for finding stable housing, eviction prevention, and referrals for shelter.


Transportation Assistance:

  • Support  Guests to utilize public transportation when possible. CRCs provides information on local bus routes, schedules and fare assistance for those in need.


Utility and Financial Assistance:

  • Connecting individuals to existing resources and implementing non-monetary, sustainable solutions.


Other Weekly Services:

  • Showers and laundry services
  • Public Computers
  • Public Telephones
  •  Lock-able phone charging stations 
  • Mailing Services
  • More to come

Eligibility & Enrollment Services:

 Staff at CRCs often provide hands-on assistance with applications for various public benefits, such as: 


  • SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program   
  •  Medicaid, Medicare and CHIP health insurance programs
  • Housing assistance programs
  • Social Security Application Assistance

Health & Wellness:

 CRCs play a vital role in public health by providing preventative care, education, and access to medical resources.  


Health Screenings:

  •  Free screenings for blood pressure, BMI, and other health indicators. 
  •  Public Health Services – HIV, STD and Hep C Testing and Education 
  •  Youth and Children Assessments, Screenings and Service Connections 


Medical and Behavioral Health Referrals:

  • Connections to primary care providers, mental health services, and substance abuse support. 


Health Education:

  • Workshops on topics such as nutrition, chronic disease management, and stress reduction. 


Fitness Classes:

  • On-site facilities and or referrals for classes like yoga, Zumba, and aerobics to promote physical activity. 


Education & Workforce Development:

Centers foster lifelong learning and help residents acquire new skills for personal and professional growth.  


Job Search and Resume Assistance:

  •   Help with job applications, resume building, and vocational training information.  


Educational Workshops:

  •  Classes ranging from computer literacy and financial management to parenting education and after-school programs for youth. 


Technology Access:

  •       Free computer and internet access for job searches, telehealth appointments, or general use. 


Social & Legal Support:

 CRCs provide a supportive environment to address complex social issues and build community connections   


Counseling:

  •    Access to individual, family, and domestic violence counseling services.   


Information and Referral:

  • Staff help individuals navigate complex social service systems and connect them to appropriate outside agencies. 


Legal Assistance:

  •  Referrals or on-site legal services.


Social Activities and Events:

  •  A  safe, inclusive space for community gatherings, support groups, and  inter-generational programs to foster social cohesion and reduce  isolation.  



By providing these diverse services in a single, accessible location,  community resource centers act as vital hubs that connect people with  the tools and support they need to achieve self-sufficiency and improve  their quality of life.
