We are glad you are here!

Welcome to the KC Grace Foundation

The name KC Grace is more than just a foundation—it’s part of our story.  It’s an alias that my family once used to protect my children during one of the most  difficult times of our lives. We chose the name because it was easy for  them to remember; it carried the initials  of our names, a symbol of unity and strength.

Let me share our journey.

It began many years ago, the day I found the courage to pick up my  children early from school and told them we were going on a road trip.  My youngest, in elementary school, was excited for the adventure. But my  eldest, then in middle school, sat quietly in  the backseat, tears streaming down her face—she understood we were  leaving everything behind.

Like so many others, I endured the hidden cycle  of abuse for years, hoping it would improve. But it didn’t. What began with me eventually affected my children. That was the turning point. We tried to go through the proper legal and child protective channels,  but the system failed us. The investigator assigned to our case went on  medical leave, and our case was abruptly closed without proper notice despite abuse being  verified. No one contacted us, and this silence affected the outcome of  my custody battle. The court ruled that I was  projecting my own childhood trauma, and the abuse was dismissed. It was devastating.

Desperate to protect my children, I told my parents we had been accepted  into a program. Truthfully, I didn’t know where we were going—I just  knew we had to leave. So, we drove city by city,  healing as we traveled, until we reached the other side of the country.  There, something in me urged me to find help. I stopped at a library  and searched for the nearest shelter for women and children. That’s when we found it—a shelter that looked like home.

As we arrived, we were welcomed by warm, kind-hearted women.

They  smiled and asked, “Are you the one who drove across the country and  needs help?” Surprised, I told them I hadn’t called ahead and that they must be  expecting someone else. But they simply smiled, hugged us, and said,  “We’ve been waiting for you.” A room was already prepared for a mother  and two children just like us. They fed us, gave us clean towels, and offered a safe place to rest. For the first time  in a long time, we felt safe. God was with us!

With their support and prayers, we began to rebuild. Over the years,  others also blessed us in unimaginable ways by sharing their stories and  lifting our spirits when we needed it most.

The journey wasn’t easy. The long-term effects of trauma weighed heavily  on our physical, mental, and spiritual health. But by God’s grace, we  are now standing strong—on a mission to win in life, together.

Inspired by those women and the support we received, I dedicated my life  to serving others. For over a decade, I’ve worked in both the private  and public sectors—from supervising a homeless shelter to leading  outreach programs in jails, colleges, communities and more. I have also had the privilege to work for many in the areas of substance use, mental health,  child maltreatment, household violence and human trafficking.

This work has taught me that when we open our hearts to help others, God  brings people into our lives who share our same struggles and  victories. And in helping others, we often find our own healing.

The KC Grace Family along with other survivors dedicates this Foundation to  every “KC Grace” out there that are struggling, suffering, or hurting in silence.

Our mission is rooted in early intervention and prevention of child maltreatment. We aim to  educate, raise awareness, and provide resources to children, youth, and  families so we can break generational cycles of trauma and abuse before  they begin.

But we cannot do it alone.

We invite you to join us by giving your time, skills,  or donations to help us provide the critical services our communities  desperately need.

Explore our projects, share our message, and stand  with us to create lasting change.
