Youth Behavior Disorders

When Actions Are Cries for Help

Behind every outburst, disruption, or defiant act—there is often a hurting child.

Behavior disorders in youth are not just “bad behavior” or “acting out.”  They are often signs of deeper emotional wounds, trauma, or unmet  needs. For children who’ve faced abuse, neglect, or abandonment, acting  out can be a survival response—not a choice.

At KC Grace Foundation, we look past the behavior and speak to the  heart. Through faith-based guidance and trauma-informed care, we help  youth heal from what’s hurting them—not just punish what’s visible.

🔍 Common Youth Behavior Disorders:

Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) – frequent anger, defiance, and argumentativeness

Conduct Disorder (CD) – aggression toward people or animals, rule-breaking, property destruction

Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) – sudden, intense outbursts of anger or violence

ADHD with behavioral symptoms – impulsivity, difficulty following instructions, emotional dysregulation

⚠️ Warning Signs to Watch For:

Constant disobedience or hostility toward authority figures

Bullying or physical aggression

Property destruction or lying

Trouble in school, home, or peer relationships

Lack of empathy or remorse

Quick escalation from calm to outbursts

🕊️ “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

At KC Grace Foundation, we believe every behavior is communication, and  every child deserves to be understood—not just corrected. Together, we  restore the broken pieces and build a path to purpose, healing, and  hope.
