📷 Youth Personality Disorders

Seeking Identity Through the Pain

Personality disorders in youth are not just “phases” or difficult  personalities—they are deep-rooted struggles with identity,  relationships, emotions, and self-worth. Often linked to early trauma,  abandonment, or neglect, these disorders can leave youth feeling  lost, unlovable, or unsafe in their own minds.

We see past the labels and look at the child  behind them. We know that many youth living with personality disorders  have survived things no child should ever face—and we are here to help  them rebuild with grace, compassion, and faith.

🔍 What Are Youth Personality Disorders?

Though typically diagnosed in adulthood, symptoms can begin in  adolescence, especially when trauma or unstable environments are  present. Some common types include:

Borderline Personality Traits – extreme mood swings, fear of abandonment, unstable relationships

Avoidant Personality Traits – deep fear of rejection, social withdrawal, feelings of inadequacy

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Traits – perfectionism, control issues, inflexible thinking

Antisocial Traits (Conduct-linked) – disregard for others, manipulation, aggression, lack of remorse

⚠️ Warning Signs in Youth:

Rapidly changing self-image or identity

Intense fear of rejection or abandonment

Difficulty maintaining friendships or trust

Frequent emotional outbursts or impulsive actions

Self-harm, threats, or extreme withdrawal

Controlling, manipulative, or defiant behavior

🕊️ “You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:14
