📷 Youth Eating Disorders

When Pain Hides Behind Control

For many young people, eating disorders are not just about food or  appearance — they are silent cries for help, shaped by trauma, emotional  pain, or a deep need to feel in control.

We understand that eating disorders often stem  from abuse, neglect, bullying, abandonment, or a distorted sense of  self-worth. These conditions affect the body, mind, and soul — and  without intervention, they can become life-threatening.

We respond with compassion, truth, and faith, walking alongside youth as they rediscover their identity, purpose, and value.

🔍 Common Youth Eating Disorders:

Anorexia Nervosa – extreme restriction of food intake and fear of gaining weight

Bulimia Nervosa – cycles of binge eating followed by purging

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) – frequent overeating without purging, often in secret

ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) – severe food avoidance unrelated to body image

⚠️ Warning Signs to Watch For:

  • Obsessive focus on body weight, food, or calories

  • Skipping meals or hiding food

  • Rapid weight loss or gain

  • Preoccupation with perfection or control

  • Depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem

  • Isolation during mealtimes or social withdrawal

💛 How KC Grace Foundation Supports Recovery:

  • ✅ Trauma-informed mentorship that prioritizes trust and dignity
  • ✅ Partnerships with eating disorder counselors and support programs
  • ✅ Faith-based encouragement focused on self-worth and identity in Christ
  • ✅ Support for parents and caregivers navigating complex emotions
  • ✅ Safe spaces for youth to speak, be heard, and be accepted without judgment
  • ✅ Ongoing emotional, spiritual, and practical resources

We are helping youth replace shame with healing,  control with confidence, and fear with faith. Because every child  deserves to feel whole — in body, mind, and spirit.

🕊️ “You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” – Song of Solomon 4:7
