Give Respect Get Respect

🛑 Let's Address this — Abuse is Real.

Abuse is never love. It’s about control, fear, and harm.

What Is Youth Domestic Abuse?

Youth domestic abuse involves harmful behaviors in teen or young adult  relationships—including physical, emotional, verbal, digital, or sexual  abuse. It can happen to anyone, regardless of gender, background, or  orientation. It is all around us!

Signs of an Abusive Behavior:

-Constant criticism, belittling, or name-calling

-Extreme jealousy or possessiveness

-Isolation from friends or family

-Controlling where you go, what you wear, or who you talk to

-Threats of self-harm if you leave

-Pressuring you into sex or sending explicit images

-Monitoring your phone or social media without consent

-Gaslighting or making you feel “crazy” or guilty

How Abuse Happens in a Digital World:

-Tracking apps without permission

-Controlling your passwords

-Sending threatening DMs or texts

-Public shaming or harassment online

-Revenge porn or sextortion

Real Talk:  "Love should feel safe, supportive, and respectful—not scary."

If You’re Being Abused:

You are not alone. You are not to blame. Help is available.

-Talk to someone you trust (a counselor, teacher, parent, or friend)

-Call a local or national teen abuse helpline

-Plan a safe way to leave if you feel in danger

-Save evidence (screenshots, texts) if possible

-Keep a journal of dates, times and incidents

-Trust your gut—your feelings are valid

-Your voice and story matters
